Facade Upgrade Sydney Airport

The front door to the Sydney International Airport is a highly challenging work environment. Ensuring occupants and customers were safely directed to their destinations led to a successful project for all stakeholders.

The Solution

EDT was employed to tackle this high profile project as they have a good working knowledge of Sydney International Airport. The project required the painting of the entire 300 metre external facade of the Sydney International Airport terminal – the Airport’s front door.

This required access to multiple storeys of workface via the installation of light weight aluminium scaffolding – all constructed over the awning roof structures of the main departure halls. A raised road entry was also built.

The works were staged over an 8 week period and were predominantly carried out during the Airport’s operational hours. Access was significantly restricted requiring coordination with SACL operations and security to closely coordinate access to all areas.
